Wise Women Blog Lana

Hi and a warm welcome

Wonderful
Wise Women

I hope you have been taking good care of yourself and are experiencing joy in your life.

This week I'd like to talk about healing our lives. Many of us struggle with past experiences and memories and these issues can affect us not only psychologically but also physically - it's time to let go of these burdens and free yourself.

I'm currently reading the book "You Can Heal Your Life" by Louise Hay, it's a great book and it was actually recommended to me by Helen Reddy, who said it helped heal her life.

Affirmations are a great way to change the way we think and new thought processes can actually heal our bodies. Say or write out you affirmations at least 20 times a day.

If you have ageing issues, Louise says you may have certain social beliefs, old thinking, fear of being one's self and rejection of the now. The affirmation for this is,
"I love and accept myself at every age, each moment in life is perfect".

Menopause problems is the fear of no longer being wanted, fear of ageing, self rejection, not feeling good enough. The affirmation - "
I am balanced and peaceful in all changes of cycles, and I bless my body with love".

Mirror Exercises:

Zadro RDV 8X/1X Double-Sided Round Lighted Mirror

Pick up a small mirror and look into your own eyes and say your name and "I love you exactly as you are". Do this 21 times in succession EVERY DAY.

To heal your life you also need to nourish your body with fresh, healthy foods and exercise each day. Meditation should also be a daily part of your routine as it centres and relaxes you. Restful sleep is vital - each night when you are ready to go to sleep, say to yourself,
"I lovingly release the day and slip into a peaceful sleep, knowing that tomorrow will take care of itself".

My Week

I enjoyed a lovely 3 day "healing" break at Corlette in the Mid Northern NSW. It is a charming, seaside hamlet with magically calming views across the sparkling, turquoise coloured water.

This area is a haven for dolphins and migrating whales. Joining a whale and "dolphin watch" cruise is a must! The dolphins love to frolick alongside the boat and they seem to enjoy the company of the delighted passengers.

Hawaiian Spinner Dolphin, Come Play!

The glorious sunshine and the scenic location was extremely healing, (not having to cook and clean also helped).

BRAG BOOK

Our 3 grandchildren are certainly the joy of our lives, watching them learn and grow is certainly a divine blessing.

Miss 2 can now count to 10 and loves to put on "shows" to entertain us with her dancing talent.

"Bam Bam" 19 months, is constantly showing his incredible strength by rearranging my furniture! He even giggles at his extraordinary ability.

Master 6 constantly confounds me with his intelligent and meaningful conversations, he is such a deep thinker. He informed me recently that he would like to be a dentist when he grows up - hopefully I'll still have some teeth left by then.

 Book Corner

I recently read a book by Gail O'Keeffe,
"The Remembering", it's about Gail's own personal experiences as a survivor of child sexual abuse. Her words will stir your emotions and sometimes rattle your very core. It's a story of a woman's triumph over adversity and her dogged determination to heal her life and help others to heal theirs.

It's compelling reading, once I started reading it I just couldn't put the book down until I had read the whole story.

Later this week I'll be interviewing the author and I will bring that interview to you very soon.

Do yourself a favour and get a copy of Gail's book-
"The Remembering".

Lana's Beauty Corner

Gregory Landsman is a beauty expert who has been championing DIY beauty for years. In his new book "Face Value" he says that grapes, milk, pineapples and sugar are some of the most powerful ingredients for skin care as they have high concentrations of nutrients. For example, glycolic acid peels cost hundreds of dollars in a salon, but one of the purest forms of glycolic acid is caster sugar that can be bought for around $2-3 dollars a bag. Apply caster sugar to damp skin and leave it on for 15 minutes to remove dead skin cells, then rinse off. Magical!

Grapes: cut green seedless grapes in half and rub gently onto the face wherever there are wrinkles. Rinse off 30 minutes later. The powerful glycolic acid exfoliates the skin, reduces excess oil and builds collagen.

Lemon-Cucumber Whitener: Mix the juice of 2 lemons and 1 cucumber. Apply to dark pigmented areas and leave for 30 minutes before rinsing with tepid water. This strong antioxidant formula of vitamins A and C helps repair skin. It also lightens pigmentation and treats fine lines.

The great thing about using natural ingredients is of course the lower costs but also because they contain no sodium laurel sulfate, artificial fragrances, detergents, petrochemicals, mineral oils or parabens. Now that has to be good. For more beauty tips...

Wise Words

Healing Words

In the infinity of life where I am,
all is perfect, whole and complete.
I now choose calmly and collectively to see my old patterns,
and I am willing to make changes.
I am teachable. I can learn. I am willing to change.
I choose to have fun doing this.
I choose to react like I have found a treasure
when I discover something else to release.
I see and feel myself changing moment by moment.
Thoughts no longer have any power over me.
I am the power in the world. I choose to be free.
All is well in my world.

Until next week allow joy to enter your life.

Hi and Welcome Wise Women

Hope you are enjoying a happy and rewarding week.

Thanks again for all your welcomed correspondence - keep it coming!

I Am Woman

Helen

I am sure most of you remember that powerful song by Helen Reddy.
Once you have heard 'I am Woman'  it’s impossible to forget.

I  had the opportunity to spend a couple of hours with Helen this week
and she is certainly one amazing and special woman.

She turns 68 this year and is incredibly vivacious, charming and extremely generous. Her wealth of wisdom is phenomenal.

Helen has such a unaffected personality, she is a warm, caring, spiritual woman and it was difficult at times to imagine that during her amazingly successful life she has dined on her birthday with the Prince of Wales, danced in the White House with the President of the United States, and even had a tulip named after her in Holland. That doesn't happen to many of us.

Best known as a recording artist, Helen Reddy had more than a dozen Top 40 hits in the United States. She was the first Australian to win a Grammy Award and to have three #1 hits in the same year.

Helen has also written a riveting, frank and brave memoir, The Woman I Am’, where she recounts the emotional highs and lows that have shaped her life as an artist and as a complex woman, with a rich inner life sustained by her strong spiritual faith.

It really is recommended reading and guaranteed to have you spellbound.

Helen retired from live performance in 2002 and now practices as a clinical hypnotherapist and motivational speaker.

As I sat in her lounge-room chatting about children and grandchildren, I was captivated by her natural, easy going demeanour and her obvious passion for life and people. As we shared snippets of our lives she began penning a recipe for me for peanut butter cookies, as I had mentioned to her earlier that I was sensitive to wheat and she said that these cookies are wheat free and totally yummy.

After discussing health and psychological issues, Helen then commenced our hypnotherapy session. She made me feel so perfectly relaxed in her presence and I felt very blessed to have had not only the opportunity to meet this extraordinary woman but also experience her healing abilities.

I left her home with three books, herbal teabags, affirmations, a feeling of well being, wonderful memories of my visit and of course the recipe for peanut butter cookies.

Helen gifted me with all of these things - courtesy of her very generous and loving heart.

My Week

Me

As promised, I would like to share with you some of the things that I learnt during my weekend seminar. It was full day Soul Development program - ‘Living your Energy’ and my friend Cath and I arrived bright and early Sunday morning at the nearby ‘Friendship Room’, located in the beautiful gardens of Hazelhurst Gallery.

We were the last to arrive and were greeted by a group of 8 other participants - 7 females and 1 male of varying ages, seated in a circle. Our first facilitator was - Cassandra Hawkins a vivacious young women who has been studying energy medicine for 15 years, through modalities such as psychic healing, shamanism, past life & karmic healing and various natural therapies. She has taught workshops on healing to attune participants to higher levels of ability, and facilitated meditation circles & retreats.

Cassandra works in private practice as an energy healer and acupuncturist, specialising in emotional & spiritual pain resolution. She says, “Other therapists refer their most difficult clients to her,” which is a bit of a concern for me as I was also referred to her by another therapist!!!

Our other facilitator was Peter Cullen,

who is a leader in his field with nearly 30 years experience practicing and teaching Soul Development.

He has learnt from, practiced and taught with some of the most highly regarded people in this field. He has an empathetic and caring manner and manages to turn the most complex matters into easy to understand and practical activities that
nurture the soul towards full self expression. He is currently practicing and teaching: ‘Living Your Energy’, ‘Psychic Skills & Techniques’, Cycle of Life’, Healing, Regression, Guided Meditation and Private Consultations.

We learned that living your life with greater perception gives you a greater understanding and awareness of yourself and others.

We also covered topics such as learning how to protect and cleanse our auras, experience and discern the different types and flow of energy,
to see, feel and use the spectrum of colours
and learn to free energy blocks.

Everyone in the group (except for me and my friend) possessed certain healing
gifts. Many could see colour around people, others could heal through touch and some
could reveal personal information about each of us without having ever met us. It was eerie!

Cath and I were feeling like the dunces of the class particularly when we were asked to feel each other’s solo plexus chakras and report
back on what we had learned about the person.

Cath and I were the only two who felt nothing!

We couldn’t resist having a glass of wine with our lunch at the nearby cafe as we thought it may enhance the spirit within.

Seriously though, we did learn so much on the day and we are able to use many of the methods to improve our overall health and everyday lives.

Gigi has had such a busy week I haven’t been able to catch up with her much lately as she is a woman on the move, however, I know she will always have some fascinating information to share.

Hi Wise Women & Welcome

Hope you too are enjoying the onset of August.

Here in Australia we are celebrating each day that brings us closer to spring. I can’t wait to throw off those winter woollies and slip into the shorts and t-shirts. It’s liberating to rid yourself of those extra layers - don’t you think?

My Week

I know Gigi is diligently working up a sweat at the gym most days, I’m feeling a bit guilty so I have decided to make the effort to take a walk along the beach as many days that I can. It’s a pleasure at the moment with sunny skies overhead, however, when the sky is grey and the winds prevail - it takes more discipline than I can muster. Mental note to me – Lana you must try harder to get fit, you must try harder...

If YOU are doing the right thing by your body (I’m envious) click on to Gigi’s latest exercise hints and energise yourself  - I'm planning to start my fitness routine real soon Gigi...

Talking about energywhich I seem to have a serious lack of lately, I’m off to a seminar this weekend with a friend, it’s called ‘Living your Energy’.

Sounds like a good tonic for me!

It’s an experiential workshop where we will feel, use and understand the energy that is you and around you. We hope to learn that living our lives with greater perception gives us a greater understanding and awareness of ourselves and others.

The topics discussed will include practical exercises to enable us to use our wisdom and support our soul’s development including:

Aura
– vital functions, protection and cleansing

Energy – experience and discern the different types and flow of energy.

Colours - see, feel and use the spectrum of colours

Chakras – understand their function and feel their energy

Meditation – gain personal insight and balance

Protection – importance and methods

Energy blocks – clear and free ourselves to move forward

I hope to feel ‘like a new women’ after this! I can’t wait to fill you in on my experience next week.

This workshop is run by Cassandra Hawkins my Shaman - read all about sharmanisim and soul retrieval by clicking here

Acupuncture

Many of my regular readers know that I am a lover of natural therapies and acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine has worked for me and a number of my friends and relatives over the years.

Speaking of friends and relatives, if any of you are reading this, "I’m sorry for continually nagging you about seeking natural healing solutions, however, at the same time - I thank you for being forward thinking and brave enough to give  it a go!"

Read more about acupuncture and how it can help you

Travel

I love to travel, how about you? In my next life I definitely want to come back as a travel writer (that’s if I don’t come back with the goods to be a super-model).

I prefer to travel in style, comfortable spa hotels, upgraded seats on  planes, you know, the little luxuries that us girls appreciate. On the other hand, Gigi is more the wild child kind of girl – she likes to scale mountains and camp out. She has even bedded down in a dung hut...my mind just boggles at the thought...

I do love her adventurous spirit and her willingness to ‘give anything a go’ and I really love reading her amazing stories.

World Champion Natural Bodybuilder at 66

No you don’t have to read it again, it’s not a typo – it says, world champion natural bodybuilder at 66!

Janice Lorraine is not only an accomplished Natural Bodybuilder, she is a Motivational Speaker, Author, Psychologist and acclaimed agent of change using the power of positive thinking.  Janice is the whole package. She also looks incredibly amazing. Mental note to me...it’s never too late to start making a difference...

You have to see Janice to believe her incredible transformation and you can also change your life by reading her compelling story – once you start reading it you will feel instantly inspired and you will be encouraged by her impetus that got her where she is today.

Wise Words from the Heart

Gold heart - 18"

We seem to toil and strive each day for the things we don’t have, but do we really take a look around and take stock of what we do have.

Loving children and grandchildren, a roof over our heads, food on the table, friends to laugh with and cry with. Sunshine to remind us of the wonderful days and some little luxuries that make us feel special.

Many times throughout life, we are told to count our blessings and many of us have a lot to count.

If you are experiencing rough times – decide now to change your life and seek help. You may need professional help, a family member or a kind friend – whoever you need, I urge you to pick up the phone now and get the help, love and direction you deserve.

Until Next Week Wise Women

Love yourself first, and then with what’s left, share it with others.
