Hi and Welcome Wise Women of the World
Where ever you are, I hope your life is as good as it can be.
Gigi and I are currently working on a secret women's project and we can't wait to unveil it to you in the future. It has been fun creating new and exciting ideas, but at times it can be exhausting and it's always time consuming, however, I know the effort will prove to be worth it in the end. Watch this space for further developments!
My Week

This week I have also being playing the role of mum, nanny and nurse to my brave 31 year old son TJ, and my darling 6 year old grandson as they both had their tonsils removed on the same day.
It was a mad rush to organise things as they saw the ENT specialist late Wednesday evening and they were admitted to hospital early Friday morning.
Their rooms were next door to each other and they were operated on just minutes apart.
It's been a few days since the op and both patients are still feeling particularly sore and sorry for themselves. The icecream and jelly seems to be the only highlight of their miserable days.
If I try to cheer them up by sharing a joke, I'm in trouble... as laughing hurts!
Anyway, I'm also counting down the days until they make a full recovery!!!
We Will Remember Them, Lest We Forget.
Anzac Day march, Brisbane Australia
Anzac Day was commemorated here in Australia on Saturday with many moving Dawn Services and a March through the city and various locations around the country.
It was heartwarming to see that so many young people recognised the sacrifice that was made by all of those wonderful individuals who participated in war and fought for our freedom. We are eternally grateful and YES, we will always remember them.
Energetic Healing

I've become a real fan of Energetic Healing. After each session I feel so much better.
For those of you that have not experienced Energetic Healing, it is an umbrella term for any therapy that manipulates the energy circuits in our physical or subtle bodies to regain balance and facilitate our body’s innate healing mechanisms.
Some of the more well know therapies that fall under the heading “energetic healing” include Reiki, Reflexology, Kinesiology, Thought Field Therapy and Acupuncture. However, energetic healing also encompasses lesser known natural therapies such as: Aura and Chakra balancing; Flower and Vibrational Essences, Crystal Healing, Colour Therapy, Spiritual Healing, and other forms of bodywork. Energetic healing practitioners are ususally trained in a number of modalities and will combine these in their own unique way. Many combine intuitive skills with their practical and theoretical skills.
Energetic healing takes a holistic approach that looks beyond the physical to manipulating the subtle energy systems (meridians, auric bodies, chakras, nadis) where the cause of the disease can be located. Trauma, emotional and mental stress, false belief systems, physical distress, environment stress, and other blocks to our personal growth can be stored in the energy fields of our bodies, impacting our ability to function at our full potential.
Energetic healing facilitates the healing process by clearing blocks in the energy fields, repairing and rebalancing the energy so that the body can move to its optimal level of balance from where it is able to access its inherent ability to heal itself.
Energetic healing can also help identify “issues” before they manifest as pain or similar distortions in the physical body. It opens our consciousness to the areas we need to work through and heal in order to bring our lives into balance and maintain health, harmony and vitality.
If you feel that Energetic Healing may be of benefit to you, check out the qualifications of therapists in your area and give them a call to chat about your 'condition'.
Last week I visited a Past Life Therapist and I was engrossed by the information that I received. I'm off to another session at the end of this week. I promise to keep you informed.
Hair Raising

We all know that our hair is our crowning glory, well for me it will be again soon when I visit the Hairstylist for a much needed colour retouch. At the moment I am sporting a wide strip of white roots beneath my burgundy locks. I'm currently trying to surround myself only with people shorter than me so that the roots are not detectable. Why is it that as we age, nature decides to rob us of colour, except when it come to age spots? Does nature think that we don't need coloured hair anymore? Are wise women expected to spend the rest of our lives with colourless hair?
Although I must say, many women look absolutely fantastic when they let nature take its course and they let their hair 'naturally whiten'. Unfortunately for me, my skin is so pale that if I let my hair go white, I would look more like an apparition!

Remembrance To My Sister

Me and Vicki in our younger years
My sister, Vicki, passed away from cancer on the 29th April 2002, it was a day before her birthday and she was 50 years young. Vicki was fun loving and just loved to dance and share good times with family and friends. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt and friend, and we remember her with much love and admiration.
Vicki, you will never be forgotten as you will live on in our hearts and minds forever.

And protect yourselves from that dreaded swine flu!!!
Hi Wise Women and happy Easter greetings to you all.

My Week

It’s good to welcome back Gigi after her week away in Cairns. She certainly has loads to tell us this week about her trip.
My daughter and her husband are finally moving into their new home this weekend, after a long 2 year wait. Why do some councils take so long to approve building plans? I really think it’s disgraceful for young family’s lives to be put on hold because of the bureaucracy of some councils. The councils have their building guidelines, they inspect the property, so why then does it take 12 months to approve? If you have any comments or stories to tell on this subject – contact us...

At least this year Miss Charli will celebrate her 2nd birthday in her new home
on (Easter Sunday).
Many people in Australia take the opportunity to have a short vacation over the 4 day Easter weekend as the weather is usually still pretty warm and the children are on school holidays.
Many other families will attend the Sydney Royal Easter Show. The Show is Australia's largest annual event and celebrates everything from our bush heritage to the vitality of city life. It takes place annually at the showgrounds in the Sydney Olympic Park precinct -over a two-week period which includes the Easter long weekend.
The Show is part of the long tradition of agricultural shows that are held in towns and cities across Australia. At these shows, rural and farming communities showcase their livestock and produce, and exhibitors, organisations and companies provide people in urban areas with a glimpse of rural life.
Shows are also a time for competition, spectacle and entertainment. The Sydney Royal Easter Show includes the Sydney Royal Rodeo, and the visitors to the show can enjoy the latest on offer in the way of extreme rides and attractions.
I love visiting the show and at the end of a huge day out, I always leave feeling totally exhilarated but exhausted, however, I look forward to doing all again the following year.

The Meaning of Easter

Easter commemorates the resurrection (return to life) of Jesus Christ following his death by crucifixion. It is the most significant event of the Christian calendar.
On Good Friday, Jesus Christ was executed by crucifixion. His body was taken down from the cross, and buried in a cave. The tomb was guarded and an enormous stone was put over the entrance, so that no-one could steal the body. On the following Sunday, some women visited the grave and found that the stone had been moved, and that the tomb was empty. Jesus himself was seen that day, and for days afterwards by many people. His followers realised that God had raised Jesus from the dead.
Easter celebrates the promise of life in the face of death. Easter celebrations also reflect on peace and forgiveness which has come out of aggression. It is also a time for thinking about suffering, injustice and hardship. During Good Friday services Christians meditate on Jesus's suffering and on his words spoken from the cross: 'Father, forgive them; for they do not know what they are doing.' (New International Version, Luke 23: 34).
Hot Cross Buns

Hot cross buns are sweet, spiced buns made with dried fruit and leavened with yeast. A cross, the symbol of Christ, is placed on top of the buns, either with pastry or a simple mixture of flour and water. The buns are traditionally eaten on Good Friday, however in Australia they are available in bakeries and stores many weeks before Easter.
A recent variation on the traditional fruit bun has become popular in Australia. A chocolate version is made with the same spiced mixture, but cocoa is added to the dough and chocolate chips replace the dried fruit.
Easter Eggs

Eggs, symbolise new life and have long been associated with the Easter festival. Chocolate Easter eggs, are given and received and traditionally eaten on Easter Sunday.
The Easter Bunny

Early on Easter Sunday morning, the Easter Bunny ‘delivers' chocolate Easter eggs to children in Australia, as he does in many parts of the world.
The rabbit and the hare have long been associated with fertility, and have therefore been associated with spring and spring festivals. The rabbit as a symbol of Easter seems to have originated in Germany where it was first recorded in writings in the 16th century. The first edible Easter bunnies, made from sugared pastry, were made in Germany in the 19th century.
The Easter Bilby

Rabbits are an introduced species in Australia and are unpopular because of the damage they do to the land.
In 1991 a campaign was started by the Anti-Rabbit Research Foundation to replace the Easter Bunny with the Easter Bilby. (an endangered species).
Greek Orthodox Easter Traditions
The celebrations for Greek Easter begin two months before Christian Easter celebrations with Mardi Gras. The Carnival or Apokria season starts on the Sunday of Teloni and Fariséou and ends on Shrovetide Sunday with the Burning of the Carnival King , which involves setting fire to an enormous papier-mâché effigy of Judas.
For Greeks, Clean Monday is one of the most festive holidays of the year. As Lent begins, children and their parents go to fly kites and feast at local tavernas or outdoor picnics.
On Holy Thursday the bright dyed red eggs that are symbolic of Easter in Greece are prepared. Tradition says that the Virgin Mother, Mary, dyed eggs this colour to celebrate the Resurrection of Christ and to celebrate life. On Good Friday or Great Friday, flags at homes and government buildings are set at half mast to mark the mournful day.
Celebrations continue with the cracking of eggs, the dyed red Easter eggs that are found on the Resurrection Table become pieces of a traditional game. Each person takes an egg and challengers attempt to crack each others' eggs, which is suppose to symbolise Christ breaking from the Tomb. The person whose egg lasts the longest is assured good luck for the rest of the year.
Gluten Free Hot Cross Buns

Many of us suffer from food allergies and sometimes it’s difficult to find recipes that taste good. Coeliac sufferers will be pleased to know that this recipe is a winner, so you too can enjoy hot cross buns on Easter Sunday.

Visit Gigi

Gigi has just arrived back from a week away at a glorious, tropical Queensland location – Cairns. She had a very full week and was filling her days with exciting sights and activities. Gigi challenged herself by performing trecherous feats and showed young people that wise women can keep up!
She can’t wait to tell you all about it and she has some magnificent photos to share with you, so visit her now.

Easter Isn't Easy
I heard a funny bunny say,
"I just go nuts on Easter day.
I hide about a zillion eggs
And baskets tangle up my legs.
"I'm tired, my eyes are full of tears
And overflowing to my ears.
If I'm to work more Easter Days
At my age I should change my ways
"I know I must do something rash
So I'll start saving all my cash
Then next year, with a little luck
I'll deliver in my pick-up truck."
